We Offer?

The FI team within Credit Risk Management (CRM) is responsible for managing, approving, monitoring and controlling all credit risks arising from our Investment Banking Division?s relationships with EMEA Emerging Market Sovereigns & Banks.

The UK CRM team has additional responsibility for reviewing and approving / declining limit requests from other regional credit departments outside the UK in respect of UK legal entities, e.g. CSI and CSSEL.

The successful candidate will be an experienced credit risk management professional who has worked at a major investment or global commercial bank.

The successful candidate is likely to have experience in credit risk management including ideally at least 3 years managing credit risks arising from Sovereigns & Banks in Emerging Markets.

Core Responsibilities

  • Managing the credit risks arising from EM Sovereigns & Banks based in the EMEA region including several of the bank?s key clients.
  • Reviewing and approving / declining limit requests and transactions from other regional credit departments outside the UK in respect of UK legal entities, e.g. CSI and CSSEL.
  • Supporting UK CRM management on policy, risk appetite and other issues to ensure effective credit risk management of exposures in UK legal entities.
  • Determining Credit Suisse?s risk appetite for individual or groups of Sovereigns and Banks
  • Transaction approvals: Analyse and approve transactions within existing limits or via a personal delegated credit authority.
  • Re-structure or amend transactions, if necessary, to comply with risk appetite.
  • Work closely with front office business units in our Global Securities group, including Sales, Trading & Structuring, and other support areas, e.g. market risk and legal in the creation of client solutions, as required.
  • Undertaking risk focused due diligence meetings with clients;
  • Credit risk analysis: Review and approve qualitative, quantitative and financial analysis carried out by our off-shore CRM analytical team to determine internal credit ratings and identify credit risks at both the counterparty group and individual counterparty level; and ultimately determination of our credit risk appetite;
  • Trading documentation: Set credit risk related terms in trading documentation and liaise with our Legal department and clients or their lawyers, as appropriate;
  • Monitor the financial strength of clients and performance of transactions in the analyst?s assigned portfolio, taking appropriate risk management action as required.

You Offer?

Education:

Essential: Relevant university degree preferably in finance, risk management, or economics.
Desirable: Accountancy based qualification. Finance related second degree; professional qualifications, e.g. CFA.

Experience:

Essential: The successful candidate will be an experienced credit risk management professional already working in major commercial or investment bank.
He or she is likely to have strong experience working in Credit Risk Management including a minimum of three years covering EM Sovereigns & Banks.

Business Skills and Knowledge:

Essential:

  • A proven track record as a risk manager.
  • Personal impact: VP level leadership and influencing skills.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills;
  • Strong product knowledge, specifically derivatives and other traded products;
  • Good knowledge and understanding of traded products master agreements, e.g. ISDA, GMRA, prime brokerage agreement, etc.
  • Collaborative: Communicates and works effectively with others.
  • Good conflict management and negotiation skills.
  • Innovative and solution orientated: Good/strong problem solving skills and solution orientated.
  • Due diligence: Able to conduct unsupervised due diligence meetings with clients.
  • Fluent in English, both written and oral.

Desirable:

  • Experience analysing and managing credit risk relating to Russia, Turkey, South Africa or other MENA countries
  • Fluency in a European language (from the above countries) is desirable, but not a requirement.
