NEW YORK ? Mayor Bloomberg told New Yorkers that anyone looting during Hurricane Irene will be put in internment camps in upstate New York.

In a press conference this afternoon, Mayor Bloomberg again urged residents in evacuation areas to leave immediately.? The Mayor was told that a number of residents were hesitant to leave because they were worried about looters.

Mayor Bloomberg shocked reporters when he said that the National Guard would round-up any looters and take them to internment camps in upstate New York.? ?We have installed a zero tolerance policy for looters.? If you? loot, you will be put in an internment camp for six months ? at the minimum.?

Reporters questioned the constitutionality and legality of imprisoning looters, but Mayor Bloomberg said, ?We have the full support of the Obama Administration.? Looters will be placed in these camps and some may even be deported.?

?You are going to deport Americans??? asked John Quimby of The Daily News.? ?Yes, we will figure out where the looters ancestors came from and ship them off to that country.? President Obama and I agreed that it?s time to clean up our cities,? and our country,? and Hurricane Irene will give us a good opportunity to do so.?

There have been rumors for the last two years that the U.S. Government has been building internment camps in every state.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo has also signed-off on the internment camps.? Governor Cuomo said he met with the National Guard to review strategy.? He has deployed several units to help with the storm, and several more to round-up looters.

Mayor Bloomberg also had dire warnings for people riding elevators during the storm.? ?If you get into an elevator during the storm, we will get you out, but you will be sent to an internment camp.?? Bloomberg said that the government can no longer tolerate citizens who do not do exactly what the government tells them to do.?? ?New York City is no place for rebels.? If you want to defy our orders, you will be sent to a camp. ?

The Mayor says he will send any ?defiant New Yorker? to the internment camps.? ?Zero tolerance,? he repeated.

The Mayor said he will be compassionate to some looters. ?Mild looters (products under $5) will be offered the opportunity of being sent to New Jersey instead of going to an internment camp ? but the Mayor expects few people to choose that option.

Left-wing activist attorney, Ron Kuby, objected to the threat of arresting and imprisoning looters.? ?This is America, this is not communist Russia.? I believe the whole hype around the storm is an attempt by the U.S. government to practice their draconian methods for controlling the populace in case of a revolution.? NEW YORK (AP) ? When third-seeded Maria Sharapova looks at the list of top contenders for the U.S. Open, here's what she sees:

?Serena Williams, seeded 28th and on the comeback trail, and her sister, Venus, unseeded and barely on the radar this year.

?A top seed, Caroline Wozniacki, who has never won a Grand Slam and a No. 2 seed, Vera Zvonareva, who has won a total of eight games in her two major finals.

?And she won't see the name of two-time defending champion, Kim Clijsters, who last week said she wouldn't be in New York because of a freshly injured stomach muscle.

Clijsters' withdrawal was the latest bit of news that ? on paper, at least ? appeared to open things up for Sharapova, a three-time major winner who, of late, has been playing her best tennis since shoulder surgery derailed her in late 2008.

"I can't really think like that," Sharapova said when asked how Clijsters' absence might help her chances for a second title at Flushing Meadows. "I don't think that's a mindset of a winner, to be honest. You've got to be ready to face anyone at any given moment."

On Monday, Sharapova will open against Heather Watson, the 104th-ranked 19-year-old from Britain making her U.S. Open debut.

Also opening play Monday is fifth-seeded Petra Kvitova, who beat Sharapova in the Wimbledon finals earlier this summer, further cementing the argument that there are no sure things, or dominant players, at the current time in women's tennis.

"She was able to find an answer, you know, in things that I kind of challenged her with," Sharapova said. "It was a really great match for her at a big stage. That's the only way you can really look at it."

And yet, since that 6-3, 6-4 win over Sharapova at Wimbledon, Kvitova has won a total of two matches.

"I think she's a good enough player to find her form back here," Sharapova said.

After missing the better part of a year with a series of ailments that started when she got cut by glass at a restaurant in July 2010, Serena Williams is rounding into form. Earlier this month, she won tournaments in Stanford and Toronto and is 16-2 since June. Even as the 28th seed, she is widely considered the woman to beat.

"I'm just here to play one match, and the next match, and hopefully I can get to seven wins," Williams said last week.

Play was set to begin largely on schedule Monday despite Hurricane Irene, which washed out practice days over the weekend. The only exception is in Arthur Ashe Stadium, where the first match will begin at 1 p.m. instead of 11 a.m., as workers prepare the stadium, which had been battened down for the hurricane.

Headlining action Monday night are Venus Williams and third-seeded Roger Federer, who is trying to avoid going 0 for 4 in Grand Slams for the first time since 2002.

Federer turned 30 earlier this month, which often signals the beginning of the end for top tennis players. Of the past 100 Grand Slam titles, only five were won by a man past his 30th birthday. The last to do it was Andre Agassi at the 2003 Australian Open.

Federer, though, said that his age hasn't affected his expectations.

"Hasn't changed anything. I'm still as professional. I'm still as hungry. Everything's still completely normal," he explained. "It's just a number that's changed. I'm ready to go."

Among Federer's accomplishments: 16 Grand Slam titles and five straight U.S. Open titles from 2004-08. His 40-match winning streak at Flushing Meadows ended in the 2009 final against Juan Martin del Potro.

Last year, Federer lost in the semifinals to Novak Djokovic, who comes in seeded first and going for his third major of the season.

This will be the first time that neither Federer nor defending champion Rafael Nadal has held the top seed in a major since the 2004 Australian Open.

But Djokovic has certainly earned it. He is producing one of the greatest seasons in tennis history. He's 57-2 with nine titles, including at Wimbledon and the Australian Open. He's also 5-0 against Nadal, with all of those matchups coming in tournament finals: two on hard courts, two on clay, and one on grass at the All England Club last month.

Djokovic retired from the second set of the final in Cincinnati earlier this month with a sore right shoulder, ending a 16-match winning streak and bringing a little bit of doubt into his health for the upcoming two-week grind at Flushing Meadows.

His top two challengers, however, aren't expecting much of a letdown.

"He's only lost two matches all year," Nadal said. "For everybody, (it's) surprising, but for me, (it's) no surprise that Djokovic is No. 1. For me, it is not a surprise that Djokovic is able to win Grand Slams, because he's very good."

Els goes from top to bottom without losing hope

EDISON, N.J. - Ernie Els sure didn't look to be down in the dumps for someone who has tumbled so far in the FedEx Cup.

It was only a year ago that the Big Easy was the No. 1 seed going into the PGA Tour's version of the postseason. He went to the top of the standings by winning a World Golf Championship in March, and stayed there for the next five months.

This year, he wasn't even sure he would make it to The Barclays.

Els was just outside the top 125 ? the cutoff to make the FedEx Cup bonanza ? and had to play last week in the Wyndham Championship to have any chance of making the playoffs. He tied for 30th and moved up to No. 118.

"It's a little different," Els said Wednesday. "But I think this is almost a better mentality. I feel I need to be aggressive and get up the bloody points list. Otherwise, I'm going home. Last year I was the No. 1 seed, but I wasn't quite playing as good as I was in March. This year, I feel like I have to make a move. And I feel a little more comfortable with that.

"I had three good rounds last week, and I feel my game is coming along," he said. "It's a good feeling going in."

Els is among five players who have made it to the Tour Championship ? and a shot at the $10 million bonus ? each of the last four years. His chances of being in the top 30 are much more remote starting out at No. 118.

Even so, his optimism remains high, and there are a couple of reasons for that.

One is Heath Slocum, the poster boy for opportunity in the playoffs. Two years ago, Slocum barely got into the playoffs at No. 124, and then won The Barclays to secure a spot in the FedEx Cup finale at East Lake.

Another is Martin Laird. He faced elimination in the first tournament last year until he was the runner-up at The Barclays, moving him up to No. 3 in the standings. He wound up 11th in the final standings and picked up a $300,000 bonus.

The fifth year of the FedEx Cup playoffs gets under way Thursday at Plainfield Country Club, the fourth course used for the opening event, one that ends with a 285-yard par 4 that should deliver plenty of excitement.

Along with a different course, there's a different look to the 125-man field.

Tiger Woods, a two-time FedEx Cup champion and the No. 1 seed in three of the four years, failed to qualify for the first time when he missed the cut at the PGA Championship.

The No. 1 seed is Nick Watney, whose two wins this year include a World Golf Championship at Doral.

"I feel like I'm in the best position I can be, and I'm very pleased with the year so far," Watney said. "But we have a long way to go. I'm excited to see if I can hold up in these next four events."

Phil Mickelson kept alive his streak as the only player to be among the top 10 seeds in every year of the FedEx Cup. He is at No. 6 this year, and he has listed winning the cup as one of his goals.

The change can be found more toward the bottom, where Els has plenty of company.

Padraig Harrington, a three-time major champion, nearly missed the playoffs. He closed with a 68 last week to tie for 47th. He then had to wait some two hours to see if it would be enough to qualify for the postseason. He barely made it, finishing at No. 124.

He studied accounting in college, so the Irishman knew how close he came to missing out. And yes, he already has done the math at The Barclays, figuring he needs to be in the top 30 at Plainfield to be among the top 100 players who move on to Boston next week.

Much like Els, he sees only opportunity.

"I'm of the opinion that I'm in a great position going into this, that I'm just like every other guy," Harrington said. "In order to win the FedEx Cup, you're going to have to win one of the first three events, and the last event. I've got nearly the same chance as anybody else of winning this outright. I just need to perform a little bit quicker than other guys."

Some of that is misleading, some of that is true.

Two-time U.S. Open champion Retief Goosen has been among the top 24 seeds the last two years. Now he's at No. 101, meaning his season will end if he misses the cut, or perhaps if he finishes toward the bottom of the pack.

His hopes are not as great, mainly because of a freak accident on his way to New Jersey.

Before leaving home in Orlando, Fla., Goosen watched the track of Hurricane Irene. Just in case it turned toward Florida, he decided to push his boat into the garage. The front wheel of the boat trailer went over his right toe.

"It went blue instantly," Goosen said. "I had X-rays and they said it was a fracture. But I don't think it is. It's not as sore as it should be. But all the other toes are getting sore now because I'm walking funny."

Indeed, it will be an uphill climb this week at Plainfield.

"You just have to go for it, move up as much as you can as quickly as you can," Goosen said. "When you're in the top 20, you know you're playing well. When you're 101, you know you're not playing well, and you come into this event not as confident as you'd like to be."

And then there are players such as Rod Pampling, who aren't sure what to think.

One year, when the points system was too volatile, Pampling started at No. 33, missed the cut in the first two events and failed to be among the top 70 who advanced to the third round in Chicago. He has started much lower, at No. 98, and didn't last more than two weeks.

This year he is at No. 115, remarkable for a player who only had conditional status this year.

"I've got nothing to lose," Pampling said. "You see these guys with what they've done. If you finishing in the top three in one of these tournaments, you're good for the Tour Championship. Just to say you've got a chance to do something in one event is huge."

He said that the movie "exemplifies the type of globally appealing, commercial movie we intend to have Legendary East become known for."

Jashni, Tull, Zwick, Herskovitz and Charles Roven ("The Dark Knight Rises," "Man of Steel") and Alex Gartner of Atlas Entertainment will produce.

Legendary East's co-production partner, Huayi Brothers, will distribute the movie in China. Warner Bros., where Legendary has a deal, is expected to distribute in other parts of the world.

Zwick is known for big, sweeping movies. He and Herskovitz wrote and produced "The Last Samurai," and Zwick directed "Love and Other Drugs," "Blood Diamond" and "Defiance." He and Herskovitz were nominated for an Academy Award for producing "Traffic."

Legendary Entertainment launched Legendary East this past June to make movies for a worldwide audience. The company is based in Hong Kong and has Chinese management. Its goal is to develop and produce English language films that "tap into the powerful fandom demographic and draw on Legendary's Chinese ties."

The idea is to make movies that have a worldwide audience and that are commercial viable in China.

Lightly drag the spackle knife across the blobs of mud to flatten them. Go in different directions in different areas of the wall so as not to create a definite pattern. When you're done, let it dry for a couple of days. After it's dry, you can lightly sand it with a drywall sanding screen to smooth out rough edges or just leave it rough. If you sand it, brush it off with a soft broom to remove the dust. Prime and paint. It's really a lot easier than it sounds, once you get the hang of how to do the splattering of mud and the knockdown (flattening) technique. And, it really gives a great adobe-like texture.	?

Missed watching the NASA's Juno spacecraft embark for the solar system's largest planet? Here are some photos of the liftoff

NASA launched its Juno probe on August 5 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. The mission will be a meeting of mythological mates, as Juno is named after the queen of the Roman mythological gods and has been sent to enter orbit around the planet named after Juno's husband Jupiter.

The planetary probe left Earth carried by an Atlas 5?Centaur rocket. An hour after liftoff it jettisoned the Centaur upper stage, which gave it its final boost, to proceed toward Jupiter alone. It will reach the planet in 2016, where it will settle into orbit and gather data about the gas giant's magnetic and gravitational fields and water content. Scientists think Jupiter was the first planet to form in our solar system, so its strong gravitational field may still hold some of the primordial materials that were present in the solar system when the planets first took shape about 4.56 billion years ago. NASA astronomers hope Juno will detect some of those early ingredients, providing clues to how Jupiter and the other planets were born.
