[IDC Report] Windows Phone to overtake Apple?s iOS by 2015

According to Analyst company IDC, Microsoft?s partnership with Nokia could lead to Windows Phone moving ahead of competitor mobile operating systems, like iOS and Blackberry in about 3 years.

According to their research, Windows Phone 7 will struggle until Nokia?s devices come in. IDC analyst Ramon Llamas stated in the press release:

?Until Nokia begins introducing Windows Phone-powered smartphones in large volumes in 2012, Windows Phone 7/Windows Mobile will only capture a small share of the market, as the release of Mango-powered smartphones are not expected to reach the market until late 2011.?

The firm expects the partnership to have about 20 percent of the smartphone market by 2015, which means it will have a larger market share then iOS, which is expected to have a 16.9 percent share with Blackberry having 13.4 percent. Android is still expected to be the market leader, with 43.8 Percent.

I sure hope they?re right about this. Windows Phone will do better, for sure, but this figure seems a little? optimistic? What do you think?
